Following thunderstorms overnight and early this morning, Staffordshire has experienced significant rainfall, with further heavy showers and thunderstorms forecast throughout today. The Met Office has a Yellow Thunderstorm Warning in place for Cannock until 10pm, with the potential for surface water, localised flooding, reduced visibility and difficult travelling conditions. The latest forecast for Cannock suggests heavy rain and showers will continue through the afternoon and evening, with temperatures around 20°C and a high chance of further rainfall. Please take extra care if you are travelling:

Allow extra time for your journey.

Reduce your speed and be prepared for standing water on roads.

Increase the distance between you and the vehicle in front, as stopping distances are longer in wet conditions.

Never drive through flood water. It may be deeper than it appears and could conceal hazards beneath the surface.
